Engine knocking and shutting off

My 05rx8 is an automatic and has a constant p2096 code. It makes a knock sound and randomly shuts off. Low idle when warm. Y?

It sounds like a rode knocking in a 360. Cleared code but comes back if I drive longer than ten minutes. When the engine temp
Starts to climb the idle drips off. At mid range temp the idle is so low the engine has cut off before

A compression test may be in your future but have you checked for vacuum leaks? Start simple and think, fuel, spark, and fire.
