My engine seems to flood itself every time I start it. A few times it started right away after I cut off the fuel supply by pressing the accelerator pedal all the way down. LTFT is 7-13% at Idle, 6% during cruise.
Any solutions? |
I've tried deflooding my engine. Seems to not be working. I've done exactly what the forums say but no good luck. Does the atmosphere temperature affect this procedure? I've only have got the opportunity to do it during the night.

Flooded for sure
My husband started her up and moved her out and of the way and then shut it off , then started it up hours later and moved it out of drive way and took foot of clutch while it was in gear, sure as shit it flooded.
I read that if you start it up let it warm up then drive it, but when you shut it off rev engine to 3K and shut it off while you still rev engine is this true? What is the start up procedure ? |

Floods are caused by a weak component somewhere.
Ignition, battery, starter, etc. I've moved mine many times without incident. I don't worry about it warming up, don't rev it before shut down, or any other mythical procedure that somehow prevents flooding. Just like any other car I've ever had. 2 floods in over 4 years, a bad coil right after I bought it, and recently from a weak battery. |
Rx8 problems
Alright so I'm new to this, and I've had my rx8 for about 4 months now. Problems started up about the first month I had it. Car has 90k miles on it. It's an 04 AT. It had a jumpy idle every once in awhile, it sputtered at high rpm's, and it sometimes wouldn't start back up after filling up gas. I've noticed it takes awhile to accelerate and get up too speed sometimes also. I had a compression test done and the mechanic said it started up at 80psi then moved up to 120 gradually. I know I should have done it from a dealer but I've known the guy forever. I use 91 premium octane all the time. It starts great at cold temp but has trouble on hot starts after driving fun with it. The other day I was driving and it completely lost power on me, it literally felt like half the car was running. I didn't wanna hurt it anymore so I put it on a backroad then it got towed to my mechanic. Today he said he did another compression test for me and it came out to 0. Then he said there was oily sludge on one of the plugs. Any advice? Please!

Forgot to mention I did replace the coils, plugs and wires about two weeks ago.

is shooting sparks and flames out of the exhaust bad?

just bumping this silly thread from having stumbled across the 4-port engine picture that was posted in it a long time ago while doing a search …
