So I've had my rx8 for about a day in total. I havent even put 100 miles on the thing and when i go to start it up after school it just starts pouring out white smoke. The car has about 111,000 miles on it. This is my first Mazda and my first car in general so help would be much appreciated! It's a manual 04 BTW.

 

White smoke typically means it is burning coolant. Get the coolant system pressure tested. Oh, and search noob.

 

I don't find rotary powered cars to be a good choice for a first car. Hope your a quick learner with a fat bank account...

 

Take it back to the person you bought it from and demand a full refund

I hope you got it for real cheap, because a replacement motor is going to cost you a whole bunch.

This will be a great learning experience for you.
This will teach you to research a car on the internet before you buy a used one.

Had you done research before buying the RX-8, you would have found our website, seen the new owners thread, and gotten a compression test on the car before agreeing to buy it. Then, the car would have failed that compression test, and you would have bought something else instead.

At least, now you get to learn how to pay for a replacement motor instead, which is a different kind of lesson, but just as valuable.
