what pattern is it flashing with?
sounds like an issue with the immobilizer; might be a blown fuse.

Yea, I would def suggest starting with the fuses. It's the cheapest and easiest fix, if in fact a fuse is the issue.

how many times is it flashing?
I'm asking because I was reading the service manual recently and based on the number of times it blinks and the pauses in between, you can help diagnose the issue.

have a copy of the service manual?
if not, let me know.

If its a continuous and consistent flash pattern, that might point to the immobilizer itself.
You could try to disconnect the battery for ~10min and reconnect, then see what happens.
Sometimes a good "reboot" helps.

If you have a 2nd key, give it a try too.
Even though it doesn't match the flash pattern, its something else quick and easy to rule out.

ok tried both keys and nothing
rebooted the car last night
continuous flashing for about a minute and then it flashes 20 times with a 4-5 second break between flashes.. then stops flashing completely

Might sound a little strange, but can you test the battery voltage?
Possible that the battery is drained and is only supplying enough to illuminate a few lights.

Damn... well, can't think of anything else besides the immobilizer components.
And with replacing those, you'll need the dealer to perform it anyway to register them to the keys.
Wish there was something else I could recommend trying...
