Deflooding the Cypriot way
Deflooding the Cypriot way
Managed to flood it after washing and after i failed to get it moving using the standard deflooding procedure i had it towed to the Mazda garage.
Option 1: pay 50 pounds for a re-flash (dont know why)
Option 2: after i refused to pay 50 quid for a flash i already had was to to attach it to the back of a van and tow it down the road and jump-start it.
200 meters later it started (lots of smoke) and was none the worse for wear.
So it turns out that all you need in the end is a rope and a car to give you a tow
easy.

Doesnt seem any different, and it starts fine (and its had an annoying performance upswing / downswing on an almost daily basis since i bought it)
what are the symptoms of ruined spark plugs
what are the symptoms of ruined spark plugs
Poor idle or misfire at speed (usually trips a CEL).
Take the plugs out and look at them. Gunky, crusty deposits are not good. If you can't clean them up yourself, you might as well replace them.

Well, it a bit of an old topic, but I managed to flood my car as well even though I let it run for a minute before turning it off. Car stood still for 4 days before I tried to start again.
Called the local Mazda dealer, -who happens to have wankel-knowledge for over 40 yrs, one of the best in the country -, and he said that towing and jump starting would probably be the answer. Works most of the time he said.
So I tried it, and it worked :D And the car runs fine, so I guess the sparks are okay.

Gunky, crusty deposts are not the result of a flooded engine. They are the result of a poor running engine that flooded. A flooded engine will just have wet plugs that once the engine is running will clear.
realistically if your plugs were fine before the flood, once you get it started all the fuel buildup will burn off the plugs. in most cases the plugs start to perform poorly, then the engine floods, so the flood always is assume to have ruined the plugs. in general the dealer will replace them no matter what, or at least will want to.
