So I swapped the battery on my remote key, just for the sake of maintenance (I had used the remote for 5 years) and now it does not work and the LED does not light up.

I thought it was a programming error but they remote does not seem to communicate at all.

Has anyone had a problem with a remote going bad? Especially during a routine battery change - I checked to make sure all the terminals had good contact with the new battery....

Didja try just putting the old battery back in?

Looks like you folded the + terminal down with the new cell - the top of the batt is + and a tiny little tab sticks up from below to contact.
