Dead battery. Again.

I own a 2005 RX8 40k miles on it, no after market work done, automatic transmission.

I bought it used, and I've read that there were major recalls done on 2005...

2 weeks ago, battery died. I jumped it, drove it for a while to let the alternator juice it up. I didn't drive it for 2 days, try to start it, dead battery.(and when i mean dead, i mean the i couldn't open the door without manually turning the key/wouldn't start, not a flooded engine)

After that, I went bought a new battery. Ran fine. Again, when I left the car idle for a couple days, the battery died again... SOOOOOOO.

How exactly do I go about getting them taken care of?
Do I just go to the Mazda dealership? Or do I need to go to the used car dealership where I bought it? Am I S.O.L on warranty since it's used?
Do I need to start the car EVERY day?

Thanks very much for any input.

we'll start by addressing your questions:

- You do NOT need to start it every day. I haven't started mine since Sept 19th and I am confident it'll fire right up if I choose to drive it today.
- Don't go to the mazda dealership just yet
- you are not S.O.L. if it's used. Your standard bumper to bumper is expired but the engine warranty is 8 years / 100,000 miles.

Have any lights come on?

It sounds to me as though something is draining power. One of the most common culprits is the trunk light, I know it sounds goofy but usually the trunk is slightly open and that light will NOT go off on it's own.
have you double checked it?

Wow, thanks so much.

It was the trunk. I feel so ridiculous lol.

However, I think i should still take it to the dealership now, after reading some things on the site (shaking at idle/slow acceleration) I think my RX8 might not have received all the recalls it needed.

Thanks again,
Rob

^..................ha ha

That was a quick one! Good work Jorge!

Except he didn't address this "I've read that there were major recalls done on 2005".

That's just false.
