Exclamation Coolant tank empty

I just realised that I am losing the fluid in my coolant tank. I got back from 200KM DRIVE AND REALISED THE TANK WAS EMPTY. There was no warning light on the dashboard. What could be the problem?

Fill the tank and pressure test the system to check for leaks.

Cyril has advised me that his engine is hard to start and that he has had some white smoke out the exhaust when it does start.

white smoke indicates coolant in the combustion chamber. combined with your coolant loss that sounds like a blown seal- meaning your engine needs repaired or replaced. Mazda will probably choose to replace your engine.

On some US model year 2004 cars (some of which were delivered into service in 2003) there was a casting issue which resulted in improper seal placement and eventually coolant leaks and failures. I dont remember off hand if there were any failures outside the US reported here.

this might be your issue.

when i have time later i will dig up the old threads about this issue. Unless some other member does so before then

I'll have to fix this with my local mechanic as we don't have a Mazda dealership in Ghana, Africa where my RX8 is!! It seems like mine is the only RX8 in Ghana at the moment. It is the '04 model and has about 55,000 miles.
Any more help in diagnosing the problem?
I could get the parts when I am in Virginia next week
