Compression / Power loss resolved on '07 & '08 models?

As a past Rotary owner ('87 RX7), I've yearned for a new RX8 for some time now.

I'm starting my research for a new '08, but I've read quite a few threads here...

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/new-engine-lasts-3-days-122148/

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/can-no-longer-maintain-%7E75mph-while-slight-grade-115867/

...about '04 & '05 models losing compression, power, seals, etc.

While I understand that I'm reading threads in the "Issues & Problems" section, I'm still concerned about the relatively young ages of the cars involved.

Does anybody know if Mazda has resolved these problems on the '07 or '08 models, or do we just wait a year & keep reading the forums?

Thanks,

Franko

We know the cause of the problems (insufficient lubrication of apex seals in certain circumstances). Mazda has addressed the issue through a reflash . That was about a year ago and early indications suggest they may have resolved it although this is certainly not conclusive yet .

Also : if you premix there is very little chance of the problem ever occuring .

I can't be the only one who wonders if cars that have always been Premixed have failed compression test.

Adding small quantities of 2-cycle oil to your fuel to help lubricate seals in the combustion chamber.
