OK Guys, official update so listen up! Seems I'm the first to at least post this up officially under the new warranty terms. North Penn Mazda in Colmar Pa was the dealer that replaced my clutch bracket free of charge with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The service guy told me that Mazda made a revision to the clutch bracket, the official part number is FEY5-41-30X. I have no clue what the old part number was but I'm sure someone on here will know if its new or not. Either way they are now able to order the new clutch pedal kit and are replacing now under the new warranty terms. So if your having problems give your dealer a call and have your broken clutch bracket replaced!

Interesting...

I can't find info on the Part Number you posted, are you sure it is correct?? ;)

Original Left Hand Drive..latest PN
FE05-41-300C Pedal Clutch Aluminium
FE15-41-300C Pedal Clutch Standard

FEY5-41-30X ?? New Modded Clutch Bracket?? comes up Part Number does not exits, do you have all the number correct??..There is a possibilty NMAO Parts has not loaded in New Part yet??

Chrishoky is correct about the part number, FEY5-41-30X did show up as PEDAL,CLUTCH on Mazda Motor Sports site, Funny thing is its even "cheaper" than the "old" Aluminum version. Its NOT showing up on other site such as the one hosted with Trademotion software (like OnlineMazdaParts.com), probably needs an update.

well the difference between Aluminum & standard its just the pedal, so I wonder if this is for Aluminum or Standard rubber pedal. Hey Chrishoky, what is the model year and trim of ur 8 ?

Edited :I found something more interesting, I saw another part number, FFY9-41-30X, I wonder if this is for Aluminum? Standard? Or its for another car? -_- this is also a complete new part, and cost exactly the same. I wonder if its the same? -_-

Edited 2 : oooOooo, I just found something more interesting, Mazda should discontinue the old part, aka "C" Revision, but funny thing is they still have about 69 of them in stock and it has an ETA of 10/29/2010 ... I wonder if they're going to trash it ... Honestly,I don't mind to buy them all for 10 bux each, LOL. Im sure with just 69 brackets will last more than the life of my 8 ... or even my life ... LOL but hmm ETA of more brackets on 10/29/2010 ? ... Thats weird.

Another thing is that, I ran a check on FEY5-41-30X, System is showing there are MORE THAN 99 of them in stock ~~~~~~~ !!!! While the other part I found, the FFY9-41-30X, has only 8 right now.

So I guess FEY5-41-30X is indeed the right number ?

OK boys so here are the goodies. Ill post as many of the decent pics as they will allow me too. I finally stuck my head in there and it does look like there is a reinforcement near both sides of where the bracket meets up with the bolts on the firewall. I am not particularly tech savvy but it does look like a more robust part than the previous one. Also I included the invoice with the part number on it, I believe I typed it correctly though in the previous post. Let me know if anyone has any further questions regarding the new bracket. I can take more pictures or help out just shoot me a PM. Now get out there and get your bracket fixed!

I would call your local dealer and see if they will replace the one you have with the new one. Unfortunately mine snapped off while driving, so maybe if you make a case that it is a safety issue you can have your replaced for free as well. It doesnt hurt to give it a shot.

nycgps 10-23-2010 03:07 PM

im not 100% sure but it seems that there is a change on the bolt of the bracket.

hell, Im gonna buy a new bracket, when it comes I will take mine out just to do a side by side comparsion

DarkBrew 10-23-2010 04:57 PM

Comparing old and new from the photos it's hard to see any difference at all.
nycgps, what are seeing that I'm not??

Looks the same to me as well. Hard to tell unless you have it in your hand of course.

I dont know, it seems that the area around the bolt has changed.

maybe its just the photo, who knows.

*parts ordered*

I could be wrong but I think there is a small difference as well. I took a look at my broken one before I took it into the dealership, it seems there is a small support on the bolts that connect to the fire wall. I could be wrong if this is a new piece or not, but I would say it seems improved. Either way they are replacing them for free, so go out there and get one.

My clutch pedal broke earlier this year. If what is being stated above is true, then that means Mazda should be sending out a notification where I get reimbursed for the money I spent on replacing the clutch pedal.

I think after labor and everything, it came out to something around $300 or so. Delicious

nycgps 10-25-2010 10:56 AM

Yep.

We will probably see the mail real soon.

UrbanOcho 10-25-2010 05:14 PM

Peeps are posting today that they got theirs in the mail.....so YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!

ken-x8 10-25-2010 06:23 PM

Mine came in today's mail. Special Service Program (SSP) 82. 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty. Free replacement if yours breaks. Reimbursement if yours broke and you paid for replacement before the SSP began. Do nothing if you're not having trouble.

Tomorrow I'll scan it into a pdf, and if nobody else has posted it I'll upload it to this thread.

Clutch Pedal Assembly SSP 82 Scanned Letter

Copy of my letter is available at:

RX8 Clutch Pedal Assembly SSP 82

Basically if your car was manufactured between April 10, 2003 and September 13, 2008, the warranty on the clutch pedal assembly is extended to 100,000 miles or 8 years.

There is a reimbursement procedure as well, but there doesn't appear to be a mileage limitation on it.

I wonder if I can claim my RaceRoots clutch pedal reinforcement with this? Or if I can claim the clutch pedal broke and wrecked my transmission?

nycgps 10-25-2010 09:14 PM

Great news ! :)

I will probably get my mail tomorrow.

StormyBluePhil 10-25-2010 10:21 PM

Got my letter from Mazda today.

I have a 08 with 9800 miles that seems to work okay but when I depress the pedal it makes a clicking or light popping (but not always) sound. Seems like it may be the ignition/ lockout switch but I'm a little leary because I read this Forum and it informs me of possible future problems. Most of the clutch pedal problems I read about here talk about a squeaking sound not a clicking sound.

Does anyone know of a click that turned into a squeak and then a break? I'll bring it at 15000 miles anyway and have them check it out. Seeing as how it's now covered they may be a little more willing to being proacvtive rather than making me wait until I'm FORD.

Thanks you guys for hammering away at Mazda etc. about this and other issues with the 8.

Overall the 8 is great!

JakesRX8 10-26-2010 09:27 AM

I received my letter in the mail yesterday. Just in time too...I was about to take my 8 into the dealership because the clutch is making a popping noise almost every time I press it. Great news indeed!

kanundra 10-26-2010 10:08 AM

Got my letter in the mail, I'll keep it on hand for when my pedal eventually start to go. 61k and counting...

Jedi54 10-26-2010 11:46 AM

wow that is great news.

Question, I fixed my clutch pedal assembly 6 months ago at a local weld place, do you guys think mazda will replace it for free and for a better one?

The repair cost has to be considered reasonable by Mazda standards, whatever that is..
