FUUUUU Mazda!

Well, another is claimed in the clutch-pedal-fall-apart camp.

So thaaat explains the squeaking I've heard in the last year, I thought it was the spring, lol.

Finally broke for good yesterday, I managed to get it to work and back. I thought it was my shifter....thank you to RX8 club for letting me know how to remove the pedal from the DIY thread.

I'm gonna try to weld it up today at work...I'm not much of a welder. Man, that design is CRAAAPPPPY! Shame on the engineer who approved that configuration.

Oh, and my dealership "never heard of this problem before"...they couldn't even tell me how much $$ to replace the pedal. Mazda sucks...

Well...I finished fixing my pedal...it went pretty good! I should of taken pictures...my welds were really ugly, but I beefed up the base plate and made some gussets...now she's solid as a rock. The install went pretty good too...hard to get at the hardware...but thats how it goes.

HOLY CRAP! It feels like a new transmission! Boy does she shift nice now. The pedal feels completely different. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. For some reason I had to bend the bracket that triggers the sensor that shows the pedal depressed for starting the car...like many others reported. I wonder why because I really didn't alter that part at all, and it suddenly didn't trigger the sensor anymore??? weird. Anyway, I am very proud of myself for fixing this (rather serious) problem for no cost.

 

Please file a claim with the NHTSA. Do everyone else the favor. ;[
