Clutch Master Cylinder stuck, engine out

Clutch Master Cylinder stuck, engine out

Hey there all I'm having problems with my clutch pedal going to the floor as well... Long story shourt I removed my engine and while the engine was out I mistakingly hit the clutch pedal and it went to the floor. The mastercylinder is fully extended and it seems to be stuck open... I need some advice. I tried bleeding, I don't know what else I can do to get it back to normal.... Thanks

The slave cylinder isn't very complicated, only a few parts to it. You could remove it completely and disassemble without much difficulty, see what's going on.

Manually pull the clutch pedal off the floor and push the piston on the slave cylinder in you can use the release bearing fork in the transmission bell housing for leverage. (should need a substantial amount of force)

I tried pulling on it, it's not moving.

Bleeding it again is a PITA, if its really hard to compress you could crack the bleeder slightly while you try to compress the piston.

^ I gave that a try last night it was still hard and didn't move. So how much pressure should I be putting on it?? I'm thinking not much but I put a little muscle into it too and nothin.

Haha .I had this exact same problem myself . Went to drive the car after a rebuild and no drive ! Realised what it was pretty quick so removed the clutch slave cyl. and forced the piston in then refitted . No problem.

Good amount of pressure, if the engine is out your should just be able to push back on the release bearing and fork assembly and use the leverage to push it back in.

Pictures would be helpful

FYI, im still dealing with bleeding my clutch after I changed out the lines last week, im picking up a vacuum bleeder later today and giving it another go. its that much of a PITA traditional bleeding does almost nothing when the system is completely dry as the CMC does not push nearly as much fluid as the BMC people have had experiences of even after an hour of traditional bleeding minimal progress was made. Basically I would exhaust all routes before taking it apart.

From what it sounds, CSC piston is fully extended and wont compress.

Haha.. in my case I put motor in for a compression test and clutch went poop to the floor I was like WTF hahaha. What did u use to compress it??

I think i used my big *** multigrips . I know it took a LOT of force to put it back in place so you would struggle to do it with it on the gearbox.
I didn't have the issue with the pedal that you seem to have though so not sure what is up at that end .

Yea man I was bleeding forever. And I have that vacuum bleeder as well gave that a try too.

Also : bleeding was not that difficult . I just pumped the pedal a few times , open the bleeder with pedal down . Pull pedal up . Do that a few times . Then have someone push pedal down while bleed screw is open then close screw and pull pedal up and repeat a couple of times .

O ok I beleave the pedal isn't coming back has something to do with the slave cylinder not compressing back to its normal position so there's probly no fluid in the clutch master.

No , they are two seperate issues . Solving the Slave cyl thing will not fix the pedal issue.
Are you saying you can't physically pull the pedal up at all ?
