clutch lever arm

clutch lever arm
ok, tried to figure this out myself, but i haven't seen anyone post of a similar situation so here it goes
it seems as though i have made a little rip in the panel that the clutch lever arm stopping bracket hits when pushing down on the clutch all the way. i noticed this because it started making my clutch stick a little if the clutch it pushed all the way down. i am hitting padding there, not hard material.
wonder if anyone has had this happen or if anyone can share some insight.
not completely sure, but it does look like my clutch pedal is a lil higher than others i have seen from pics. i thought the stopper is suppose to hit into that rectangular dip, where it is infact hard material.

i knew you'd find your way into here, swoope.
i've never had my clutch replaced though. still on factory clutch at 15k miles. when you had to have your pedal adjusted, was it adjusting the pedal stroke and play movement?
in this pic of omicron's pedal, it look like my pedal is 'vertically' higher. when using the brake pedal as the point of reference in both pics
is that something you or charles had a problem with?

btw, to adjust the height of release all you need is a 12 and a10 mm wrench. one each..

Take a look at the spot welds that hold the pedal bracket together. If your pedal has started to feel a little "mushy" or sounds noisy when you press it down, the bracket is probably starting to separate. When that happens the spot welds are cracking and pulling apart. My bracket broke most probably because the pressure plate assembly I put in the car stressed it beyond it's limits for the past two years. I won't put the heavy plate back in until I make a stronger bracket to handle the load.

The slave cylinder is the part down on the clutch bellhousing that moves the pushrod to move the clutch fork. On one end of the system is your pedal and the other end is the slave cylinder. There aren't any welds on that end, though, just two bolts that hold the cylinder to the bellhousing. The only place there are welds are on the clutch pedal bracket under the dash and that's what I was talking about before.

i had rotary rasp look at my clutch bracket and it's a totally different bracket than what he has. everything seems fine to him but for some reason my bracket isn't the same as in other rx8s. we compared them one after another and it does seem shorter as shown in my pics. and also the bends are different. in a few of the other 8s we looked at in the meet, mine was the only one that looked different.
i plan to have the dealer look at it (since it is ripping a hole in my rubber footwell cover), whenever i decide to take the car in to the dealer.
