clutch cable

(1920's gangster vocal impression)

So this weekend has turned into a pretty big disaster ya seeee

(drags cigar)

I was gettin ready to go roll on the cruises in oahu ya see, and I put in my new racing beat ram air duct and cold air intake ya see, I even put in new plug wires and changed hte oil just to go.

(drags cigar)

When I was drivin to one of the backroads for some quick corners, I heard this sound soundin like screeching or dragging ya see, and I thought it was this hose that used to run spray ya see

(drags cigar)

And I tightened that down and pulled the slack ya see, and found out it was the RR brakes screeching under no pressure ya see, and so I replaced the pads no big deal ya undastand me? ya undastand?

(drags cigar)

Then the next day (saturday, which is when i replaced the pads), I ride the road with my favorite corners ya see, and drove to a jamba juice and enjoyed a quick razmatazz ya see? Afta that I drove about 4 blocks, and attempt to disengage to put the car in first ya see? Howeva, the car did not wanna enter the gate for first, ya see?

(drags cigar)

So I pull it off to the nearest parking lot with my crew ya see? And we jack her up and look around the clutch cable area ya see?

(drags cigar)

Now this really pains me, The clutch pedal stays fully depressed after you kick it in see? And since she wont enter to first gear, it makes me think, see, that the clutch cable snapped. It kinda sounds like the previous owner didn't tighten the clutch cable enough when he did a clutch install on the car see? And I think that's the problem. Sounds like tomorrow I won't be puttin in that clutch and flywheel upgrade I wanted to do see?

(drags cigar)

And yes, I am ******* trashed. But that is a full account of what happened see?

...or possibly the bracket for the clutch pedal has broken - common problem with lots of threads to check out on this site. Pretty easier thing to check for.

Well, don't expect to find a cable... The clutch is hydraulic.

The clutch bracket is failure prone and there are many threads covering the problem and awesome solutions.

And, as no one else wrote on this thread, I think I might be the one asking the question again, as I jus got home only using 1st and 2nd gear.

All of a sudden, at a stop light, I was able to press down the clutch pedal and get it into 1st. to my surprise, the pedal seemed to just be "stuck on floor", like something was keeping it there. So at every stop light I was forced to get down from the car, get on my knees and pull the pedal away from the floor with my hands.

What is more curious is that everytime, when the car is started I can only press down the pedal ONCE, get it into gear, and I dont even have to release it (coz I can't anyway) and the car starts to move.

So, does anyone have any idea what this is? I have checked and the bracket is OK, I know it's a hydraulic Clutch but it's weird.

The pedal being pressed once, it stays pressed, but the clutch is actually in the depressed position(car is moving in gear with pedal pressed). When the car is turned off, I can press and depress the pedal and get it into gear and out of gear as many times I want. When I start the car, that's IT! 1 pedal, and then it "sticks to the floor".

Probably, seems to me just as well, that the cylinder is not releasing the pressure. I wonder why this is soley happening when the car is turned on. Are there any DIY's on this? I will be able to find my way around, but it would be so much easier if I knew exactly what I was looking for.

Well, after reviewing the play, two weeks ago, I did more research and found that clutch pedals on this car have a poor workmanship on the mounting to the floorboard. There are actually brackets some vendors have made to reinforce this, but I went to mazdatrix to buy a new OEM pedal. The bracket will come later when I'm not tight for cash, but check your pedal too, it might not just be a slave / master cylinder problem. My baby drives fine now, just did a ACT clutch flywheel job on the car, and I'm lovin her more and more.
