clutch bracket broken now welded...fixed but car won't start
ok so i have searched and couldnt find what i did wrong
i took the clutch pedal out and welded the broken bracket and welded the other one that looked like it was starting to seperate
i put the pedal back in and the car shifts great...only one problem
the little gray actuator/plastic (don't know what to call it) piece that lets the car know if the clutch is engaged or not will not press all the way in via the pedal. to start my car i have to get under the dash and push this piece in and turn the key at the same time. it will go all the way in when i push it but the pedal is not pushing it all the way in.
i know i can rig up something tomorrow to make it work but i don't really want to just rig something up...i would prefer to fix it
any ideas?????
thanks!

He's as bad as Can
The thread below contains a photo of how to rig it if needed.

I inadvertently overly compressed my starter interlock switch as well when reinstalling the clutch bracket. I used a 16-22 awg spade connector inserted into the socket (shown in expo1's link) as an electrical bypass until I had a chance to remove and fix the switch as you now have. I now carry that connector in the glove box, just in case.

I'm headed to pay basically 500$ for a broken clutch pedal bracket. I filed my complaint with nhtsa as you should too so they issue a recall. Gentleman said they are investigating this issue still. If they issue a recall we're also entitled to a refund so, please file. Casualty of war until then.
