I just recently bought a 2004 rx8 and have had no problems with it...Until two days ago. I was going to work in the morning and the car ran fine; stopped at a gas station to get gas started the car back up and still ran fine...but the check engine light was now on. It stayed on until I reset the computer; I put a computer on it to check it the error code said "Secondary air injection system control B circuit low"...nobody has been able to tell me what that is/means.

I reset the computer and it was fine until this morning and the check engine light flashed for a second then went off, it did that about three times, then it stopped and didn't start again. Like I said before the car ran fine, no lack of power, no stalling, no flooding, no anything just the light.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks

Did you try to tighten the gas cap?

Seems to coincidental that the OP just fueled up then the CEL started......

Can bad gas cause a cel?

 

Sure...but it would be on the exhaust side like Front O2 sensor or something. This CEL is saying that the one solenoid on the intake isn't working properly.

 

No the Gas cap is P0456 - Small EVAP leak. I had that literally a week after I bought the car used. Didn't know about this site and went to dealer. They charged me $140 for diagnosis and then $30 for upgraded cap.
