Check Engine, diag Error
So I just bought my RX-8 about 5 days ago. She has roughly 73000 miles on her. And the day I brought her home there was only one problem that I noticed. When I put gas in her, it smelled like gas in the car really strong. Also the day right after The Check engine light came on! Well the next day I took her back to the dealer and they fixed the gas leak and the CEL was no longer on. Well I bring her home the same day I took her up there and the next day the CEL came on. Well I did the gas cap thing, checked the oil, the coolant, and the transmission fluid. All good, except the oil was kinda milky...not sure whats causing that or what type of oil for sure I should put in there. I get so many different answers. Well anywho, I took the car to autozone to do the free diagnostic and the result said ERROR!!!! What ever could my CEL be on for?!?!?! Also, what type of coolant whould anyone recommend?

To keep it quick.
Milky oil, not an issue.
Manual say 5w20 for oil type, but many of us run a little thicker. It's more important for you to change iy every 3-5k miles!
Coolant can be any brand as long as it is the type called out in the manual, and the correct mixture.
If you don't have a manual for your car, go to www.mazdausa.com and download one for free.
Let's see.....Autozone, well, they must have used the wrong type scanner. You need to go back and have them re-read the code and then post it back here so we can help.

That's the tire pressure sensor. If it's solid, it means that the tire pressure is too far out of range, either too high (rare) or too low. If it's flashing, it means something is wrong with the system (sensor malfunction, sensor missing, sensor dead, etc...)

AND....................you didn't go download the manual yet did you?
www.mazdausa.com
Let us know what that code is.............and then we can go from there.
As Jon pointed out............need to check your tire pressure. Should be about 32-33psi.

Good girl! But as you know, one must open it.
I really just felt like whipping someone!
That tire pressure symbol is in the manual.
If you open your drivers side door, there is a label that will also tell you how much air to put in.

Yea I found the page that told me what symbol means what, I did check the pressure but I dont thing my gauge is right, it said 24 on all of my tiers and so I tried it on another car and it was kinda off as well, on my tires it says max 40, but I think the manual said 30, so I guess Im off to buy a new gauge.

Yeah, put 32 or 33 in them. Don't put 40 as that's too much......won't really harm anything buut the ride will be pretty harsh!
The TPMS light comes on at 26psi on the low end, so if you have 24 in there, that's why it could be lit.
Maybe the other car was low as well?????? Might not be the gauge.

Try just getting all 4 checked. The light come son if one of them reads about 28psi or lower. (sometimes 28 won't, sometimes it will). You might have one sitting at 27psi that is triggering the light, and he put air in a different, also low, tire.
Check them all
Check them all

this may be stupid but being a used car are all the valve stems metal? ie do all the wheels have a tpsm? if they are the stock rims they probably are there but you never know...

pump air into all your tires and check. to be on the safe side you can just pump them to 35psi. As for the milky thing, its usually nothing. you can search it on the forum and people will just tell you that its more than likely condensation build up from when its cold. It shouldn't do anything to your car in terms of performance or CELs. Also i believe they have a recall if you REALLY wanna get rid of it but i heard the recall doesnt actually get rid of the problem. Uhmmm lets see what else did you bring up. Ohh as for the gas smell, it could be a broken Cat? i have a faulty cat but i reset the CEL and it smells a bit but im usually not standing outside my car for longer than like a minute.

Oh.........and if any are low, then it will be hard on. If it is flashing, then that indicates and issue with one or more of the sensors(might be out of battery) or the actual TPMS module has a malfunction.
