What are the steps involved when removing the UIM? Been watching videos (from russia I think) on how to do it but I can't seem to get it right.

I know that there are a number of bolts which are hard to get to.

By the way did you have to manually clear the code?

Yeah, those videos help a lot. If you need it, I'll try to dig it up in the shop manual.
I did not have to reset any codes, but I had to do a reflash due to a dead battery later in the spring.

Check the connection at the solenoid and also clean it as RenKat mentioned above.
If that doesn't work, swap the connector and vacuum hose with the AIR solenoid above it so the SSV is using a different solenoid.
The AIR solenoid can be sacrificed for troubleshooting purposes.

how does the blue connector unclip. I managed to get to it via reach around but how does it come out?

edit: it's a normal style unclipping mechanism. It's on the passenger side of the plug.
