CEL P0410 Help
Okay so i have a p0410, and i was told it is a valve stuck open and should not be an issue other than slight decrease in HP and MPG. 1) is that true? The symptoms i experience are literally zero acceleration past 5-6k rpms, does that sound like a valve stuck open because to me, that doesnt exactly fit. (obviously i dont know much about cars so stay with me for a minute) and lastly there is no shop near me willing to remove my mani to clean it, as i searched the forums and thought that would be at least worth a try before i replace the entire intake manifold. so another shop offers a upper intake clean, which he said involves a chemical to clean and should fix my problem, but once again them not being rx8 experts i am reluctant to believe it will work. anyways, do you guys think that an upper intake chemical to clean my mani will unstick the valve or is it a waste of 90 bucks?

Probably not. Remember, its best to review the RX8 service manual (or this site) to see exactly what the code represents.
DTC P0410 - AIR System Problem
The PCM monitors the front HO2S output current when the AIR control is operating.
If the output current is more than the specification, the PCM determines that there is an AIR system problem.
Possible cause: AIR system malfunction or PCM malfunction
Going off the code alone and not your symptoms, there could be a fault with the AIR solenoid, actuator, or air pump.
But another problem could be throwing this code as you'll read below.
Maybe not...
Check the cat after its been running for awhile and see if its glowing red.
You can also remove the cat and see if its clogged.
Also, fault in the ignition (coils, plugs) could cause this kind of symptom.
Search around and you'll find others, but since this code deals with the front O2 sensor, the cat could be a suspect (and don't forget faulty ignition could eventually cause the cat to fail too).
Nothing you've mentioned suggests cleaning or replacing the manifold will work.
I've dealt with stuck SSV and APV valves and have never seen a P0410 code because of it... but, stranger things have happened.
Wise thinking...
Hopefully by now, I've already answered that for you...
We can only suggest what components to focus on, but you will need to get your hands dirty and inspect/troubleshoot this too since we are not there next to you to visualize things.

god knows i love this car but i had no idea what i was getting into. if only i had discovered this site before i bought it. but i am certainly not a DIY kind of guy. and i know the code is for the secondary air injection but when i had it diagnosed (two seperate shops) they both told me it was a valve stuck open in the mani. and here is where i read the cleaning of the manifold could solve an issue: https://www.rx8club.com/trouble-shoo...t-fail-173980/ post #2. But thank you for the input and i will take a second look at the DIY and maybe get a more mechanically inclined friend to help, thanks again.
PS the cat and 02 sensors were replaced 10k miles ago so im thinking that probably isnt the issue...
