Car won't start (replaced starter)

So this morning I get in my car and it won't start, starter made a wierd noise (pitchy noise) sounds to me the starter cant turn the flywheels for some reason. So I thought starter might be weak and bought a new one put it in same noise. At this point I have no idea what it could be, anyone have any ideas???

Battery is good I checked that.

Is it a high pitched screech, like metal on metal. If it is, it sounds like the pinion on the starter isnt engaging the teeth on the flywheel.

No it's not metal to metal. It's really hard to explain what it sounds like. I had it towed to a shop. Hopefully they can figure it out

At your local salvage yard, or check out some vendors on this website. Or, you could just search it on the web.

If I get an aftermarket one do I have to get a counterweight as well? Should I stick with the stock one? Any real advantage on a lighter one? I don't have any mods on my car so far.

Yes, the OEM flywheel has the counterweight built into it. A lighter flywheel will give you slightly better engine response .
