car won't start :(

During the snow storm we had I tried getting my car out of the mud and snow (it was parked out side on rocks and dirt. I tried several times but was unsuccessful the tires just threw dirt under the car. So I just decided to wait for everything to melt and use the spare truck. Anyway I just tried starting my rx today and it just gives me a 'RRRRRRRRRRRRR' sound, it doesn't die off so I don't think its the battery. Perhaps I flooded it when I was turning it off and on trying to get out of the snow?? How would verify that its flooded? any suggestions? thanks

If it's flooded, it'll crank but not start.

Based on (the short version of) what you said:

Started the car... Tried to get out of the mud... Turned off the car before the engine was fully up to temp
You have indeed flooded the engine.

So,
  1. Please search the forums and become familiar with the many ways of de-flooding the 8.
  2. Choose a method....
  3. Get yourself jumper cables, an extra battery, or another (running) car.
  4. De-flood the engine.

Easy.

I didn't mention pushing it, because he said it was stuck in mud

But yes, that would be my preferred way (the lazy way - don't have to even open the hood). LOL.

Edit: So as I'm not thread-crapping... Here's a handy-dandy link to "DIY: Deflooding in under 5 mins"
