Car is POSESSED! Guages flicker with no key in ignition!

Dont know if it matters but it was unusually cold last night (38 or so), go out to start the car (is garaged) this morning, turned the key and got absolutely nothing. The red key indicator light began to flicker in a weird sequence. I take the key OUT and the needles on all the guages start flickering back and forth rapidly. There is also a very faint backlight on all guages. A low tapping/flickering noise coming from the needles. They would not stop, i disconnected the negative battery terminal for a while, hoping that would stop them. I reconnected the terminal and the guages went all whacky again. WTF??? Anyone ever experience this or hear of it? Im at a ****** loss.

Check your battery cables. That happened to me when the battery wasn't connected the right way.

Your ground is corroding. Mine does this when I take the ground terminal off and place it back on w/out using the nut to do problem shooting issues. If I just hold it slightly on it, it will do this constantly. Make sure you securely tighten the ground down or clean it to get better connections. You should also hear a valve clicking sound constantly when this is happening.
