Can't get into first gear.....

I have searched.
But my symptom is different.

I have no grinding issue.
It just won't go in to first gear when the car is moving, even 2-3MPH.

I can't get into gear when the car start to roll forward down the hill or down shifting.
1st gear only usable when car is stationary.

When I try to put in to gear, it just like the shifter hit a metal and won't go further.

I drove from SF to LA Seven Stock last week with no problem.
Without any sign, it suddenly just happened this morning.

Car is 04 MT 48,000 miles with AFE SS on for last 2000 miles.
Transmission used to have 2nd gear syncro problem and was fixed around 1x,xxx miles ago.
No other problem after that until today.
Last transmission oil change at 30,000 miles. (and my be again at 3x,xxx when they fix my transmission)

Temp was 68F (14C) this morning, it should not be too hot or cold to be an issue.

Any thought?

Thank you very much,
Tony

I assume that it is just 1st gear.

Can you get it into gear with rev matching at all? (assuming yes) If you get up to like 20mph, hold the revs steady, pull it out of 1st, then right back in with the revs steady still, can you do that? If you can, then it is some level of syncro problem, as the syncros aren't being used there.

Not sure about other options.

Yes, just like hitting metal.

I'm reading the thread about bend fork right now.
Might be primary suspect since 1st does not have syncro.

Does anyone know how much to fix it?

Gotcha. And I wasn't suggesting downshifting. Not gonna start that arguement Rev matching is viable for constant speed, same gear, as well as upshifting. I once had a trashed transmission (no fluid, incorrectly installed transaxle seal) that I couldn't disengage the clutch, and limped it ~6 miles through >20 lights, rev matching everything was the only way to keep it moving.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Haha,
I just delete that post few second ago.
Deciding to give it a try, since it might be helpful.

Thanks,
Tony

Your pushing to far to the left and up. Try it like this motion \ not this motion, this _ then this |
Know what I mean? I had the same issue when I got my MT 8. But coming from a AT I had to find the bugs and work around them.

Rev matching works.

I thought 1st and reverse gear do not have syncro...
.... so what is happening.

Syncro problem again?
