A/C not working

Hey guys im new to this site

I have had my 04 touring for almost a year and a couple weeks ago my A/C only got cold when you accelerated. When at idle the A/C did not blow cold at all. Last week the A/C stopped blowing cold all together i have been told it could need to be recharged, A/C compressor is bad, A/C condenser is bad, or A/C clutch is bad if anyone has any tips to help diagnose myself or if you know deff what it is please let me know its hot as hell here in NC and i cant take it anymore

Thanks guys

Just take it to a mechanic if you cannot handle the heat anymore. Just my suggestion because your worried about sweating inside your car. Let the mechanic take a look at it, rather than remedying it yourself.

You could start by putting some gages on it.

The least expensive way to figure this out is to go to an auto parts store, and buy one of the kits that includes a pressure gauge, and then see how low or high the pressure is in your system.

If the pressure is spot on, then you have to then look at other components of the system to figure out what is broken.

If it is low, then add the refrigerant until it is properly filled.

If it is high, then you should take it to a shop to be properly leveled out.

Also, you might want to make sure both of your fans are turning on.
If they aren't, then the a/c system just won't work as well as it should.

BC.

There is an AC control module by the driver's foot that can go bad. I beleive it controls the flapper doors for AC and Heat. Usually if AC goes hot to cold it is bad.

I got a "free" condenser cleaning and AC check at Dealer via a coupon last week. It ran better after I got that done!! They test everything for "free" at least.

Hey it's a start. Look for that coupon and an oil change cheap too.

you have same issue i have. The left cooling fan goes out. I found that my left cooling fan in the shroud had rusted out and had a rough spot. If you can take your hand and make sure that the fan can spin freely. I found a new radiator fan shroud on car-part for $200.
