sooo My car threw a engine code reading

p0300 ive read around here and i also went to autozone to get it pulled and it seems to be a mis fire.. but the car runs flawlessly, idles smooth, and accelerates smoooth.

I hear a buzzing clicking sound that seems to be coming from the alternator or under the alternator.. i cant seem to figure it out.. could this be a vac leak??
any information will be helpful

What you're hearing is most likely a misfire. Almost like a "marbles in a can" sound.

If you're getting those codes, the culprit is definitely your coils, plugs, and plug wires. It's a very common issue with this car and depending on your miles - you're most likely due for a change.

Many of the members here (including myself) choose to upgrade to the BHR Ignition solution. Which in essence is a sturdier coil pack set from a GMC Yukon and they will definitely outlast any stock coil set - which seem to die right around the 30-35k range for most owners. Some members have it for a bit longer.....but that's generally their lifespan.

You can also choose to go with stock coils, new spark plugs (NGK Iridiums), and new plug wires for about $270 or so.

The BHR Ignition Kit including new spark plugs was around $500 and some change.

You be the judge on where your money is spent.

 

I think that would have been the issue but im starting to believe it could possibly be the alternator! i dont know why it would cause a CEL but my alternator bearing sounds harsh!!! only way to tell is to remove the alternator and get it tested or something..

I will keep this updated and let you all know what happens!

 

the buzzing or whining noise might be coming from the throttle body
it makes noise since it's throttle by wire

mine has always done it

 

i checked my plugs and they werent plugged in all the way and i checked my spark plugs and one of them was cracked and literally fell apart when i removed it!!!!

Now the whine im starting to believe its the alternator.
