Brakes making noise :(

So my brakes have been fine for a long time. Front pads have probably 95% life and rears are about 30%. So i almost have to replace the rears soon. Before ... When i would brake i would never get any noise. Recently when i brake lightly, i get this clucking noise. I checked my rear pads and theyre not done yet. But yea its like a clucking noise.. Im not to sure how to explain it. What do you guys think it could be ?? its annoying the hell out of me.

Is it only when the vehicle is slowing down to a stop?

I'm not sure on what could possibly be the problem, but I have the exact same problem.
I think it has something to do with the brakes rubbing something though because if you cruise to a stop, no sound but if you apply the brakes it sounds like it's metal clunking against something right?

Yeaa !! I was thinking the same thing that its definitely rubbing against something. I have never had this problem before, my brakes were fine. I think its coming from the rear, i tried sticking my head out to listen. It bugs the crap out of me

I'm having my car looked at soon and I'm going to ask about the noise so if they find out anything I'll tell you but hopefully you find out before then because yeah it gets annoying.

I think your rear pads are done and it's rubbing metal to metal with the rear rotors.
Have them checked just to make sure.

Have you checked the inside pads? Insides usually wear faster and they're tougher to check. Also, just because there's some meat on the pad doesn't mean that it's not worn out. I haven't seen an RX8 pad torn apart, but sometimes metal protrudes into the pad material a bit to aid in keeping the pad held together (if that makes any sense.)

Could be good excuse to buy some slotted rotors if you don't already have them

stuck piston caliper that has moved out to keep the pick close enough to the rotor.

I too have seen pads worn in the center with full thickness on the ends.

Unless you pull off the brake you really can't tell the wear on them.

If its a squeal... sand the rotors, but you have a chicken, cluck cluck

I'd recommend tearing down the brakes without buying anything first. You may just need new pads, or you may need new pads, rotors and a caliper rebuild. (or you may not need anything.) Just pull the caliper off so you can inspect the pads and back of the rotor.

well the other option is that most pads have a feeler that when you get close to the limit they are designed to squeak so you know to change them... that's where mine are at

does it do it all the time or just most of the time, like its part of the tire rotating??

I have that issue up front, passenger side. its not all the time, but only at low speeds and when breaking. Maybe one of the break clips is hitting the rotor... or i got a twig or something up in there lol I'm heading out to pull the pass front.

^ Not all the time. It definitely has something to do with the brakes cause when the wheels are turning no sound. Its when im slowing down, i lightly press the brake and i get a cluck cluck cluck cluck. You can only hear it when music is off and windows are down. Its coming from my rear brakes. It annoys me **** !! Im about to take the calipers apart. Now what exactly do i look for ?? Also i just remove top and bottom screws right ?? Then put them back as they were ?? I dont wannaa remove them and put them back on wrong and die on the street with no functional brakes lol
