Angry Blown Engine

So pretty much this weekend has sucked nuts. I took my car to a local shop, and now I don't know how they can call themselves a shop, to tune my car since I have the r flash and the greddy turbo. I was thinking they just have to fix sum afrs, and within 2 hrs or so we should be good. Little did I know the tuner was a complete moron. The guy doing the emanage maps i found out after they blew my engine doesnt even work there, and had never used emanage before. They werent getting any boost pressure readings on the laptop, and did not hook up my boost gauge like i had requested, so they had no clue what the turbo was doing yet proceeded to dyno it 38 times! If the line was infact melted, then the boost gauge would not have shown a reading, but then they should have realized the line was not functioning properly! Anyway, to make a long story short they over boosted the hell out of the car and leaned the hell out of it as well, and while doing so proeceeded to kill my engine! They told me it faield the compression test after it would not start, i believe the 2nd rotor read like 25 on the gauge!! I now do not know how this problem will be resolved, but i do know i am without my rx-8....

I believe so too. I'm just sad b/c I still have not driven this car full throttle with the kit on and won't be able too for quite a while .

Does the car not even run now? Compression test on a rotary is different. They need special equipment. Did they even do that correctly?

Did you sign a liablilty waiver. I know I had to before getting it dynotuned. Most dyno shops require it.

Yea they are supposed to know about rotary compression tests. They are a rotary performance shop, and the closest one to my house. Thats why I gotinto this mess in the first place. No the car wouldnt start, so they checked the plugs and they were fine. It is currently not making enough compression to turn over!! And no, no liability wavers. I'm just amazed on how these people call themselves professionals!! I don't know much about tuning cars, but for god sakes i wouldnt run a car on a dyno as much as them and especially w/o ever knowing what the turbo was doing! I'm just baffled at their ignorance and incompetence of their craft.

That sucks dude. There are way too many idiots out there claiming to be tuners. On the flip side, maybe instead of buying a new engine you can rebuild your engine up for the turbo? Has anybody ported a Renesis yet?

Well, whatever happens, the shop is gonna have to pay for it. If they don't comply, they are gonna be sued. If they are seriously speacialsts in rotary engines, I'm sure they can get a new enegine or at least pay for this engines reconstruction. If they offer to rebuild it, I don't know, b/c honestly I don't want them turning a wrench on this car.

Beleive me man, this story is entirely true. The name of the Shop is Sneed's Speedshop. I had 4 friends with me who were all whitnesses too, and there was definitely no form ever signed.

Farva, just my advice, so heed it if you want to or not, but I wouldn't post the name of the shop until you see if you can get the matter resolved amicably first.

Just a thought.

I think that RotoRocket was concerned with the shop seeing or hearing about this thread, then changing how they deal with you because of it (they see it as smearing their name). I would avoid using names until you find out exactly what they are going to do.

It changed to 3495 because of a core charge of 1000.

it says there is a $1,000 core charge, so i spose that explains the price jump.

lol. Sueing would be the last thing I'd hope for, because if i ended up doing it it would take a long time and probably end up costing more money than it's worth. I just hope they are friendly about it and pay for their damages so i can get my car back asap.

Man that sucks, ansd you just put the turbo on too. Sorry about the loss, but perhaps we can use this to an advantage, was there any data logging goin on right before it blew. Perhaps we can use your mishap to at least establish some limit of the Renesis.
