MO Battery goes dead at times

Just had this happen for the second time since I bought the car used in April. Go out to start the car after it had been in the garage for about a week and the battery was totally dead. The first time I determined it was due to the battery being old and it had a shorted cell as confirmed with a battery tester so I replaced the battery. To my knowledge none of the lights were left on, at least they weren't on when I put the battery charger on the car. Nothing was turned on that I could tell. Has anyone else had this happen to them before?

Check the "dark current" draw as well as the charging system.

I think I understand what you mean by "dark Current" draw (base current needed to hold CPU data, etc) but not sure how I would check that. Also, the charging system appears to be working properly but will do a double check on it this evening when I get off work.

Do an advanced search on "dark current; quite a bit of info there.

What is the charging rate? Should be 14.25 volts; don't forget to check the belt tension too.

You win the prize, the trunk lid had not latched fully and the light was on. Thanks for thinking to have me open the pull down, I had even forgotten that was there.

Thanks everyone for all of your ideas.
