Battery Charging

I live in a cold winter climate and store my RX-8 in a neighbour's garage. I found removing the battery and storing it a real hassle. Has anyone tried a product like Battery Tender and just hooked it up to the battery directly to keep it charged? Thanks.

if you have the OE battery then long term you have to be careful because they are the old-style fillable wet batteries that will evaporate and go low over time.

^ Agreed, or freeze if it has drained or sat for too long in a unclimate controlled garage.

Just disconnect the negative cable and you should be fine.

thanks

Thanks to all for the input on battery issues. I have never worked on cars and frankly having covers over the engine and battery that don't perfectly intuitively come off with a lock/stabilizer on it was new. Also, even a Google search on what comes off first (pos vs neg) gives a thousand voices of different reasons with different explanations of why. I appreciate the help. Some of us are complete novices.
