AP dual res midpipe fart cannon sound! Is this normal?

Hey guys,

So i installed the AP dual res midpipe today on the stock exhaust. When I bought the car last year I knew the original CAT was going through slow decay so since then I changed my ignition coils, plugs and wires. Only today have I decided to install a midpipe since my dealer didnt wanna replace it.

My problem is that around 4k rpm I hear a fart cannon sound like a shitty honda civic exhaust which really annoys me. Its only when I give it some gas that it appears. If I accelerate normally I dont hear it. It goes away at around 5k rpm.

I reused the back gasket from the stock CAT but the fit wasnt perfect. It was a tiny bit bigger. I got a new gasket for the front.

Is it possible that pieces of my old CAT went into the stock exhaust and are causing this? or could it be the back gasket since it was reused? Or is this simply a normal sound?

Please any advice is appreciated im ashamed of gunning my car now cause I dont want people to hear this. Its too bad cause performance wise, the difference is amazing.

Here is a video of the sound:

thanks in advance

You need to get an aftermarket exhaust or it will always sound like a fart can with the stock exhaust..

get an intake and it should drone it out a tad but as volcom said get a aftermarket exhaust and it will be gone.

well i do have a K&N filter and I gutted the stock intake box. That sound is really shitty dude I dont know how you can stand it. The first time I stepped on the gas i said to myself ''**** now i gotta fix that''

looks like ill be buying a new exhaust... Anyone got something for sale near montreal?

Are you guys sure that an exhaust will COMPLETELY remove the rasping?

alright, fair enough.

Could you tell me ultimately which would be the quietest exhaust on the market that would get rid of that sound? I heard the OBX is quiet but is cheap quality and maybe the rasp wouldnt go away.
