another loss of power thread...
so i have a 2005 with 45,000 miles on the car. i have replaced most stock parts with aftermarket upgrades. i have an intermittent problem where i get a loss of power at high rpm with an exhaust note change. my wideband afr gauge says im running really rich. i shut the car down and back up, and it stays the same. but the next day it will be fine. this has hppend about 6 times since ive owned the car. but i have no clue as to y. i have replaced coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires , the battery , starter, and have no cat. wtf is going on here?

Wild *** guess here, but sounds like something is intermittently triggering the rich fuel/air mixture you indicate your seeing. Could be voltage issues from a dicey alternator connection, could also be the same kind of electrical scenario with your MAF sensor or MAF wiring.

i am flashed with racing beats race flash. maybe had the m flash before i dont remember. but msp16? whats that? the thing that troubles me is nothing has changed as far as new mods. isnt there a problem with carbon gumming up valves? would that not explain y its right around 5-6k rpm loss of power with running rich?

ok other observations i have now... it seems recently i had radiator fluid explode in the engine bay. the only reason i know is because the dry spot marks under the hood. also a puddle formed on the intake manifold. the fluid is also waaay above full. today i tried resetting the ecu by removing the battery with the lights on. now its WORSE! super rough idle and then it dies. its a chore to keep the car on. not thinking its the alternator at all anymore. could it be something simple like the spark plugs?

So I got the vacuum leaks fixed and the car idles perfect. Still I have the loss of power. It seems when I get to 4,500 rpm it goes lean for a sec, then it trys to correct and goes super rich. Anything under that rpm the car is fine....

I'm having similar issues, I'll comment more when I get home as it will be lengthy and my thumbs are sore from all the texting.
ok i'm back. i am having a major hesitation at 4500, i'm getting flashing cel's when this happens but they disapear if i decelerate or shift or if i rev over 6k but it returns to the same thing over 7k. i haven't replaced my coils or wires or plugs but i just got the car and all that stuff is in the mail already ordered. i am past the used dealers warranty but not mazda's as i only have 33K miles. although i will say that the battery died at the body shop cuz someone left the key in the ignition for almost a whole day in the on position and it has only started to do this since then. almost as if reseting the computer caused this issue.
i also have a code reader and am getting the following after i have this problem.
P0300 Random misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire ´ (See DTC
P0300 )
P0301 Front rotor misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire ´
(See DTC P0301, P0302 )
P0302 Rear rotor misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire ´

so Jeromie, did you ever find the issue? was it exactly like mine? and have you checked your CEL codes? sometimes there are codes that are on that don't throw a light.

i was not misfireing. the issue was exactly wht i thought it was only happening differently. the intake valves were not opening. i was thinking carbon. but it was actually a vacume chamber that activates the intake valves.

oh gottcha, see mine had the same symptoms but i got the cel's and fixed it by cleaning the MAF. can't believe it was so dirty it was causing misfires. problem solved. so yours was just a vacum chamber? what did that set you back? was it just a selonoid?
