Air Intake problem
Today I installed Simota Carbon Fiber air intake and everything was great until I took the car for the test drive. When I start to drive faster and get my car more then around 3k-4k rpm and then slow down or stop the engine dies.... If I put gear back the car will start back and will keep up even though its gonna idle. I went on highway , while driving 80mph I put the car in neutral and let the gas go...and car dies... I went back to the garage , just everything. Intake looks tight , vacuum hoses look fine I dont know whats going on... Any ideas? Is it a leak?
Couple things:
1. Dont listen to monchie, he is clueless about 95% of the things he responds to
2. You may need to clean your MAF. Idling issues and engine stalling could be caused by a dirty or improperly installed MAF
3. Your car may need to re-learn the fuel trims. Did you disconnect the battery for some reason while changing intakes? Because of the varied levels of air compared to stock, the motor is trying to overcompensate its idle therefore causing it to die. This usually gets fixed over a few drive cycles.
4. Did the simota come with any mesh screens to be placed in the tube before the MAF? If so, make sure those are properly seated.
5. When you removed your intake, there should have been 2 screens inside the OEM tube, one after teh filter, and one before the MAF. There have been cases of some people accidentally dislodging a screen and getting it stuck by the TB, causing idling issues
6. Dont dump the car into neutral while driving 80 on the highway ... regardless

I think you are giving him 5% too much credit.
Agreed, though to be honest, I still don't see a problem with it. Engaging the clutch in gear again instantly fires the engine again. Granted, any speed above ~10mph would do this as well without issue, but I don't see it as much of a problem.
We still have full brakes and power steering with the engine off, unlike most cars (which is the reason you shouldn't do it in most other cars)

before you do ANYTHING, put a half dozen drive cycles on the car. Changing the intake will cause the car to have to relearn some trims, and that takes some time.
Drive it each time for at least 15 mins till it gets up to operating temp (needle in the middle), park it, let it cool down. Rinse and repeat 5 more times. If the car is still having idle issues, or the issues get worse during this time, then start looking at some of the suggestions.

Thanks for the responds , actually before I got to the forum I read somewhere on Hyundai Genesis forum same problem and the guy unplugged the battery and it stopped. Now I did same thing.. once and I already saw an improvement. I will unplug the battery couple times more tmrw morning and will do couple driving cycles and see how its going to work then. On the side note it was also first time I unplugged battery on this car , is traction control acting up for first turn on , a normal thing?

The ecu learns and adjusts the settings of the car to make it operate within a fixed set of perimeters set by Mazda. Resetting the ecu only makes it re-adjust all over again.
Its been more then a week since I put my intake in... I tried the battery (reset) and driving cycle , is still idling when I drop from high rpm and still stalling sometime....I did inspect it several times and everything is hooked up and looks proper , is that normal and I have get used to it? It is little annoying..

unfortunately this is just par for the course on some of the intakes. Some people with other brands of intakes had similar problems while some have no problems at all. The only intake I know to be close to the stock intake in terms of being trouble free is the RB Revi.
I would double check everything, it sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

Edit:
Wait a minute, are the VFAD vacuum hoses capped off? I see the VFAD vacuum thingamajiggy still there. Best bet is to cap off the little nipple on the bottom right behind the throttle body.
