AEM Air Intake Question
AEM Air Intake Question
I purchased an AEM cold air intake system for my 06 RX8. I installed it and the car ran great for about two days. Than the car started to run very rough and a check engine light came on. I drove it home from work and I didn't think the car was going to make it home. I un-installed the system and put the factory system back on and the car ran great like when I purchased it. I do not know a lot about cars but is there another sensor or something that needs to be hooked up? I hooked up the sensor that goes into the intake itself but I am not sure if there is another one or what? I appreciate any help that you guys can offer me with this issue. I did use the search but I didn't really find anything for what I was looking for.
Also the maintence tech told me that if I brought the car to the shop with the AEM intake system on it that it voids the warrenty. Is this true?

I would first clean the MAF sensor with contact cleaner (its the sensor you removed & installed onto your new intake). Also, check all the clamps and verify everything is tight.
This will not void your warranty UNLESS they find an issue that was caused by the aftermarket component. Hope you get it going.
Also, did you remember to remove the VFAD unit and cap the inlet at the manifold? Refer to page 5 in the AEM instructions if you are not sure what I'm talking about.

The plug that is supplied to install on the intake manifold is green... so we are probably talking about the same thing. Next, try cleaning the MAF sensor and check the clamps.
Sometimes when I'm in a jam. I reset the KAM (which contains the sensor profiles). To do this:
1) Turn the key to the ON position
2) Rapidly depress the brake pedal (usually ~20 times) until the oil pressure gauge sweeps back and forth

I appreciate all the advice. I have to wait till the temp. goes back down to re-install this. Its been in the high 90's and 100's and that is way to hot to be working on this car for sure. I will let you guys know what happens
