5 times to dealer still cant fix CEL!

Well I went to pick up my car last night and got 1 mile from the dealership and the light started to blink again. The guys at the dealer have been great. I think mazda's tech line are the ones trying to band-aid this thing until it is out of warranty.

Every time the code is p0300:Random Misfire

1st Attemp to fix:4 New Plugs
2nd Attempt to fix: 4 New Plug Wires
3rd Attemp to Fix: New Flash for PCM
4th Attemp to fix: 4 New Coil Packs
5th Attemp to fix: Who knows what there going to do.

I requested that they pressure test the cooling system and compression test the motor. Anyone else been dealing with this stuff?

Pissed off aswell because this is holding up my turbo kit instal

That sucks man... Just keep them on it... It took me a loooong time, but my car shifts better now than it did when I bought the car!

My CEL has been on for about a month now. Been to dealer 3 times to fix it. They keep running the codes and trying to reflash it.

Not sure...been different every time. Last time they tried to tell me that they could not tell me what the code meant. I threw a fit and got back the P046 code. In other words, they do not have a clue how to fix it.

CEL off when I left that evening. On when I started it up the next morning. Right now no time to take it back until the weekend. They kept it for 24 hours just to reflash it last time.

oh right. i remember now. i think thats the code that the bad flash throws. thats the problem- they want to flash it but there isnt any new flash to fix it with. same with brokeapex - they will probably change something and say they flashed it but there isnt a newer flash to be had.

I know this has been beat to death... But are you saying there still isn't a good flash? I guess I have been lucky. I got the M flash right after it came out. My CEL blinked one time for about 30 seconds, but I haven't seen it since.

If the same problem keeps on coming up and they still can't fix it, then you should read your state's lemon law.

So here is my question. Can I request that they send it off to Mazda to get it fixed while my car just sits and waits? I am really tired of driving around with a CEL on all the time. Kinda makes me nervous that right now, I am not concerned. What if it really was something bad?

I can understand that. I've heard of a few cars getting bought back becuase of the CEL. Anyway... I know your stand point. If you researched the Lemon Law you would see it's probably not worth it to you. It's a pain... I would say I was dropping the car off and I wanted a rental until it was fixed. Just make sure they don't just unplug your bulb!

here's how i understand it- first buggy flash halts flashing. then a supposedly debugged flash comes out and they start flashing again. but then they halt the flashes again. i have not heard that they re-started them. my belief is that those service depts. doing them havent heard they arent supposed to. why ? i dont uinderstand that. but there has not been a new flash since the supposedly debugged one. im glad im still on Original M.

Tiff i would tell them you are sick and tired of driving around with your cel on and that you want to drop the car off until it is fixed. make them get you a loaner.

ive only heard of one and the way i read the story im not convinced it was lemoned. the owner had repeated cels and said "fix it or buy it back" and they bought it back just a couple of days later. the owner hadnt had the car very long nor had he/she put many miles on it. i think the dealer just bought it back. probably will resell it too. im waiting to hear something back from that person to try to confirm my suspicions but i fear they may have left the forum completely as it has been a week or 2.

I would do that, but I have to wait until the weekend to drop off my car. My dealership is 30 minutes away.

And you may be talking about the same one I am... there is one that is here at my dealership that claims to be "Lemoned". Who knows.

LOL...seems like it, but I can get to pretty much anywhere on the south side of the metroplex in about 30 minutes. Arlington, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Grand Prairie, etc.

Lurker here, havent had much time to read lately. I have a 2004 RX8 6spd Sport that is 4 mths old with 4k miles on it at the dealer right now AGAIN From what the head service tech told me, a new Flash is coming out Monday Jan 17th. They are keeping my car until then to try it out. Luckily I have a nice 2005 Tribute they are letting me drive around in becuase I pitched a fit the last time I was in and they kept my car a few days.

Problems since new:
1) Headlight auto adj out of whack. Sometimes it would level itself, other times I was blinding people. Replaced under warranty.

2) Drivers side power window motor made loud clicking noises.

3) 2 weeks later pasenger side motor did same - both replaced warranty.

4) CEL - random misfire - Got a reflash ECU and reset CEL

5) 1 week later - CEL from new reflash (coolant), they reinstalled old flash

6) CEL again (400 miles later) - thats why its currently at dealer (been there for 3 days now) I dont know code yet.

7) Battery keeps dying if I let car sit longer than 3 days. - Checking that as well.

They also fixed my streering alignment when I first picked the car up. It was off center.

This is my third RX, owned a TurboII and a 3rd gen Twin Turbo. This car has been a little frustrating so far. I am hoping that they can get this thing figured out soon. If not, at least I know OH's Lemon Law is one of the strongest in the nation.

Take care-

p.s. - As a side note, my mileage Sucks. I am averaging around 13-16 MPG no matter what grade (89 or 92) or brand of gas I use. Thats driving 75% city and 25% Hwy. My best mileage was a 200 mile highway trip where I got a little over 18 MPG using the cruise control set at 68 MPH. I am sorry, but thats just ridiculous for a new car.
