3 Oil Questions - But not the Typical ones

1) My oil light popped on for a few minutes, and then turned off. It hasnt come on since. (Its been two days) Is this normal? Should I treat it as a false alarm, or that the light simply isnt being triggered again (and it is indeed low)

2) The 'gunk' on the dip stick is normal. I realize this. But when I did in fact go to check the oil, there was SO MUCH in there, I couldnt get an accurate reading. After putting it in and out three or four times, and cleaning it off, it's overwhelmed - and I cant get a good reading. How do you guys cope with this? Last year, it wasnt anywhere near as bad.

3) I determined I should just add a quart anyhow. It's been just about as many miles as it normall burns through a quart. I went to open the oil cap, and it wont twist! Yes, I'm twisting it the proper way. No, I'm not a moron - I've added oil many times! Why wont the damn thing open? I've tried smacking the top of it incase there is some 'seal' - but the thing feels like it's solidly glued on there. Anyone else ever have this problem? How to cope/fix?

Thanks!

Try and open it when the car is warm...it usually is all it takes....the manifold /oil intake is plastic and expands when warm....

If you drive your car longer and it really gets warmed up...the condensation will be less. You get the most from start stop driving in cooler temps.

Oil level will go on/off when it is borderline to triggering the sensor. It should never be that close to coming on...check it more often. By the time it comes on it is really too late

You can get the plastic liner from the dealership, it cuts down on the gunk.
