27,000 mi Clutch Questions
ok , so you all know the story. This is my first manual tran car. I just went in for my 27,000 oil change and and they tell me my clutch pedal is "engaging too soon" and parts need to be replaced. To me the clutch feels fine, but This is the only manual ive ever drivin. No Knocks or weird sounds while shifting. What could be the problem with this engaging too soon?? He shows me a list of 4 or 5 parts repair is 556.64 $ and labor is 630.00. He wwont let me keep the quote with the specific parts on it, so does this sound about right for what would need to be fixed, not too framiliar with the different parts of a clutch assembly.
Now with the warranty questions. He tells me its not covered because its a "wearable" item. Ive read on here that the clutch is covered only in the first 12,000 miles. and read here that only the clutch pad itself is not covered because it is the only wearable part. So should I have them pay for everything else except for that wearable portion... or am I pretty much responsible for any part of the clutch ?

likely you clutch is fine.. ask him or her if it is engaging to soon why would not the hydraulic slave take care of it... it is a wear thing, like brake pads.. i got 55 k miles out of mine.. some of it was abusive..
you will know when it goes.. as in you will not go...

thanks for the words swoope, the shifting feels fine to me. Im going to ride it out for a while and see how it performs. He originally told me all this stuff without even taking anything apart, all they did was the oil change so I doubt anything is really wrong
