Here's the thing about Optima batteries. They're AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) type batteries, meaning the electrolytes are in a gel state, hence no sloppy acid liquid. The advantage is that they can store a lot more energy than standard lead-acid batteries; BUT: they discharge in a linear fashion with sudden output drop near the end of the cycle, meaning they'll hum along until they're just about out, and then bam, no voltage. Also, and this is most important for you Minnesotans and others who store the batteries long term, the do not store well without a charger on them. Any $30 low amp smart charger will keep them fresh indefinitely. I have pigtails on my cars and I plug em in to the charger if I don't think I'll drive them within a few days.

Motorcycle batteries are the same technology; I used to go through one a year until I started this practice; now I'm on 4 years on a four different batteries and still going strong. Of course, the same practice can be applied to lead acid batteries as well.

BTW:Optima Yellow Top for me. Install a better voltage regulator and condenser system, and if you're running subs and your lights dim with the bass, consider bigger capacitors and maybe a second battery, cuz hell yeah, it sucks power from all your components, fuel pump included...

I have the red top in the trunk.... and a 6 farret cap. also I have the buddy club condensor thing in the front... never had an issue.

Also the cap takes care of the battery problem..... I think i could probably not even need a battery and just run off my cap... hahahha

Odyssey (Diehard Platinum?) uses AGM technology too: "The Odyssey battery ingeniously uses absorbed glass mat (AGM) technology to offer, in one box, the characteristics of two separate batteries. It can deep cycle as well as provide enormous cranking power."

The electrolyte in an AGM battery is not gelled -- they are the modern alternative to gel-cells. The AGM electrolyte is liquid, but is completely absorbed into the glass mat. This is why they will not leak even if you shoot a bullet into them.

Good setup. Figure 1 Farad of capacitor capacity per 1000watt peak power, minimum. 6 Farads should be enough for the flux capacitor to operate regardless of your speed

Thanks, I stand corrected.
