X-Men Shifting sound

Hey guys. This is my first post here and I don't have my RX-8 yet. I am going to get a black one in about two months. One question that I can't figure out the answer to is the sound of the shifting in the X-Men 2 movie. I love the sound of the shifting in the RX-8 in that movie. Is that something aftermarket?

Sorry if the question is stupid but I am not a manual transmission guy. I currently have a 04 mazda 6i AT. I am getting a Manual RX-8 so this will be my first manual car.

Thanks for any help.

That is a quite a question and I'll leave it at that.... I saw the movie long ago and can't recall what you're talking about. But if you seen/heard it in a movie, I wouldn't put much wieght behind it..

Maybe he's talking about the "gun-cocking" sound that we all love, but have taken for granted already :D

Yeah, I'm not sure of the noise the car in the movie makes, but the stock shifters on the 8 make a nice loud "ker-chunk" noise when you shift them. Man, I love that noise.

Cool.

That sounds like it. The gun cocking.

Thanks for the replies

Dunno. there are these guys called foley artists that muck around with movies. So, when that guy punches that other guy... thats really a guy punching some lettuce. There is a clicking noise when you shift, though, but like it was said, you take it for granted quickly. And you'll only get the sound with the manual tranny.

Yeah,

I remembered seeing that movie and loving the sound of the car shifting. That was one of the reason's that started me wanting the RX-8 (it's the little things). I'm going for the manual although I haven't touched a manual for about 6 years.

Personally, I was disappointed when I found out the center dash didn't have a cell phone holdster that would retract the phone into the dash when in storage....damn them.......damn them!

Hehe.. We saw the X2 car at sevenstock. I totally wanted to get in it and see if i could get that little "gimmick" to happen.
It's actually in the car tho, not just a mockup.

^ If you want to do that, you'd have to sacrifice your stereo head and controls. I wonder how Cyclops was still able to play his N'Sync CD in there with all that celphone holder machnism installed?

Thanks khtm, I hope so. I have always been a big car guy and get so into cars. So why the hell am I always in 4cyl auto's?

I think what really swayed me was using the manual shifter in my Mazda6. I always push it over into manual and never let the car shift for me. So much more fun.

Sound Effects for sure, including the exaggerated engine sound.
