Winter storage -fuel question-

I'm wondering if Sta-bil is a good idea for an approximate 90-day winter storage period?

Searching has provided only side comments and a couple of jokes, no useful info.

TIA

As staticlag cites, probably not necessary for a three month duration, but it can't hurt, so ....

Also, I keep the tank full during longer inactive periods; helps to avert condensation. And of course we're already using higher octane.

Thanks, guys. I have the tank topped-off. I use premium year-round.

I actually plan on running the engine and cruising up and down my 100-foot-long driveway at week to ten-day intervals just to keep the battery charged, circulate fluids, rotate the tires (I'm parked on a double layer of carpet to prevent flat spots on the tires), and keep seals lubed. As soon as the fuel level drops to where I need to top it off again, I'm considering using a minimal dose of Sta-bil.

why not just have ur car up on jack stands all around to store so ur suspension gets a break too?

easier to run ur car in same spot and not needing to worry about flat spotting the tires. just throw it into any gear and let the fluids in the tranny circulate as well.

As said above, just fill the tank before storage. Stabul is probably not necessary, but it isn't very expencive and would be a little extra insurance. Octane level shouldn't make a difference.
I used both to store my boat for the winter, about a 5 month period. It contained about 180 gal of gasoline.

Higher octane gas tends to be 'dryer' than lower. But given that most areas have up to 10% ethanol, which naturally drys gas (prevents freezing by mixing with water and allowing combustion) it's probably not a concern. The full tank helps to minimize water (condensation or otherwise).
