Winter-spec battery
Hi

I bought my 2008 Sport in California (new), and moved to Canada this year. I'm having trouble with winter starting (especially after returning from long trips).

Is the battery for colder climates different from the one for California? Is there a recommended battery for Canadian RX-8's?

Just get a new battery with higher CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and more reserve time. That's what I did. The stock batteries are under spec IMO.

it could also be either a weakening starter or plugs/ coils? My OEM battery never had a problem when starting in temps below -30 degrees Celsius...
