Will Mazda Replace Tail Light w/ Water In Them?

I searched for some threads about condensation in tail lights, and some people mentioned that if I take it to a Mazda dealership they might replace it even it is not under warranty...is this true?

Here is the thread that I read:

hmm not sure about the whole being under warranty thing, but i've had to take mine to them twice, first for the passenger and again for the driver's. They disassembled the tail, cleaned, and resealed.

How much did that cost you?

They will replace it for free ONLY if you're still under bumper to bumper warranty.

if you're out of warranty then .... you can buy a new gasket set, take the light out with my DIY, clean whatever crap u see, rip the old gasket out, pour some White Vinegar into the light, move it around to kill all water spot. pour it out, blow dry it, then put the new gasket set on and put the light back the way it was.

Yes, it's a warranty replacement item. The new gaskets work well and I've not had a problem since they were replaced. I meant to take a picture of the gaskets when I had the tailights out for a recent bumper replacement (don't ask!) as they're quite a bit thicker/better quality.

Good out-of-warranty suggestion, as always, nycgps.

Is there any place I could buy the new gaskets and just install them myself?

Sure, a Mazda dealership. Easiest to get them mailorder from Tommy at Rosenthal (Finish Line Performance - the helpful folks here who post-link our TSB's).

Send a note, Tommy runs the parts dept.: customer_service@finishlineperformance.com
