Wideband o2 Questions.

Since the stock front o2 sensor is a wideband, in theory couldn't you wire an aftermarket AFR gauge into the front sensor by basically slicing it in? or would this result in false readings to both the gauge, AND the ecu?

I know with the PLX wideband kits that you can get for supras, they come so that you can replace the factory o2 sensors, and still hook it up so that it sends the ecu the signal, but also sends the signal to the gauge.

Just curious on if this was possible for the rx8 or if it was absolutly nessecary to buy an extra sensor, weld in a bung etc...

any info is appreciated! thanks

The signal from the front sensor is a muti channel thing. You need a standalone sensor.

figures =/ oh well, was worth a shot lol

with the Ap though, you can basically disable the rear o2 sensor though correct? so that it doesnt throw a code? and then you can use a wideband in that bung?

if you plan on keeping the cat... i wouldnt use the 2nd o2 as the wideband since the AFR's wont be accurate after the cat.

I'm running a catless MP, so i assume im going to be getting a CEL very soon, so the second o2 is useless to me reguardless lol.

But i plan on buying the AP as my next upgrade, and I might as well go that route if the second o2 throws the code anyway lol

You can completely remove the rear narrow-band O2 sensor if you have the AccessPORT.

If you have a sensor present in the exhaust stream and its not receiving power to heat its element it can get fouled. If your not using the sensor its better to completely remove it and plug the hole.
