I have a catless midpipe on my car and the CEL came on. How do you beat it? i want it gone

The "anti-foul" plug extensions sometimes work on the 2004 models, but rarely.

Either get a reflashing system or put a piece of electrical tape over the light.

Haven't done this, yet, but you've got two other options; only 1 will work...

1) put a resister on the line on the 2nd O2 sensor. If the PCM is checking for resistance difference, then this will work. OBDII vehicles don't typically use this method, though. Most likely won't work.

2) put a rectifier diode on the line on the 2nd O2 sensor. If the PCM is checking for voltage drop (newer cars typically do), then this will work.

I guess, in theory, it could be a combination of the two as well, but those are the only 2 ways I know of that will cost 'ya less than $2 and a little bit of your time. Gonna' be up to you to find the right size of each to use. I don't have any acceptable range values of the O2 sensors our car uses off-hand.

 

Have you considered upgrading your midpipe to one that has a cat?

I'll even do 'ya one better and offer 'ya my stock "upgraded" part for your POS catless midpipe... I mean, I hope you didn't pay full price for that thing since it didn't come with a cat! Should've been some sort of discount or something... I would trade 'ya striaght-up and all, but mine's got the cat, so it's worth more, right...?

 

. . . I just laid down and took my CEL from going catless... you knew it would throw a CEL before you installed it... Just deal.
