Why is the tach so far off?

The stock tach seems to be accurate up until 6000RPM. At 9000, it is off by nearly 500RPM. Anyone have an idea as to why?

Thanks

This is a problem with the 09's as well. My tach shows a higher rpm than it should. Plus, the discrepancy grows exponentially as rpm's climb.

Off by 500 rpm at 9k? I had no idea it was that close.

How did you measure the actual rpm?
