why is this a problem?

Tip: Do not shift into 1st above 20
mph or clutch failure could occur

it's in there, I'm pretty sure I remember reading it in my '05 manual. That's not nice to the transmission so don't do it.

Tip #2: Always rev-match your shifts. Don't rely on the synchros!

yeha actually my car will not go into 1st till under 10 but i usually put it in at a stop or 5 or lower!!!

i buffer overflow my 1st gear and shift into it at a negative speed.

Wait, does that mean you go back in time when you shift into second gear? I didn't know that you could get up to 88 mph in first....


I've shifted into first gear at 20 mph. Requires a double clutch to make it work, but it was buttery smooth. In spite of this I can't advise doing it.

I hate that I have to wait till 30 mph to downshift into first gear. I wish it would do it at 35 instead.


Oh wait I have an AT.

i shift at the top of first every now and again.

whats wrong with it?

in other news, why is my 1-2 shift getting more difficult?

No I don't. I shift into 3rd at about 90mph. Into 4th is 125.

shifting into 3rd at 90mph??? i would say not too much more than 70mph in 3rd... i'm shifting out of 2nd and into 3rd around 63mph...

i believe the correct speed to shift from 3rd into 4th is around 82mph.

The OP means downshifting into 1st from 2nd, not upshifting from 1st to 2nd.
