that means yea just use your coil for a year or so, call Advance Auto up and tell them oh its bad, free replacement.

and its not hard to find discounts online and it will bring the price of 4 coils down to something around 60 bux + tax, if you can add a few more items to make it 75 it ships free. best deal in town.

 

Thanks for reassuring that these will work. I was afraid they would be junk and the car wouldn't run well at all. I guess I'll just keep them for a few thousand miles, then switch them. I was about to pay double the price for the same product.

 

But the website says $33.99. Did you get some kind of discount?

 

I went to the store by my house to get my check engine light read and just ordered them there. I didn't get a discount, that is the price that was listed on their computer.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe my store wasn't updated on the new price or something. I guess I got lucky. $33.99 is still better than $48, so if I were you I would go ahead and get them. First, go to a local store and see what price they tell you.

OEM or BHR coils are the only things I'd ever use.
going cheap on ignition coils sounds like a disaster waiting to happen...

 

even if the cheap ones you get ARE the same thing as the OEM like NY is stating they are?

 

BHR makes good stuff.

but honestly Mazda's coils are probably made by Denso or some company in Japan. Mazda is NOT the manufacture.

I've been using the coils in my 8 for quite some time, and it works perfectly fine. Its made in Japan, same part number stamp, works exactly the same, I even got 2 sets for my friends overseas, they have it in their car no issues at all, and they're really happy about the Lifetime Warranty thing that I just told them like yesterday.

I told them I will just grab a set, then hohoho you're set for the life of your car, hell, just change it every year without paying (I have to pay shipping, still cheaper than buying new, right ?)



when I got mine it was only 1 yrs warranty but I guess someone told Advance Auto about O'Reily's Lifetime warranty on the same product, so now everything from BWD comes with Life Time warranty thats sold thru Advance Auto Parts.

Problem with Advance auto parts is you have to camp and wait for the product to come back in stock, don't even bother to try to order it thru their stores or call their online site to try to order it. they will just throw you around and you still have to wait. just keep checking.

We will start seeing more and more used to be "only sold thru Mazda" parts now, because the car is getting old, warranties are out, more and more people will try to get parts from somewhere other than Mazda dealer, its a big market ya know

I have a feeling the next thing that will "pop up" from a 3rd party would be Catalyst Converter. Agreed everybody ?

Yep, there was "1" in stock as of last midnight EST. I checked it, but I was like wtf am I gonna do with just 1 ? so I didn't get it.

 

I haven't seen more than one in stock at Advance in the last month. I check a couple times a week. It fluctuates between 1 and 0.

Big factory sells their part to "name company here" and the "name company here" just rebrand them to whatever the hell they like.

And our ignition is pretty "special" and I doubt anybody will make them other than the OEM.

Well I got the coils from autozone today, but they are made in Taiwan. The part number etched on the side is: N3H1 18 100. Now I'm wondering if I should even use these.

 

Made in Taiwan? really.

hmm. dunno, the ones I got from AdvanceAuto were all Made in Japan (all 16 of them)

I just notice you said N3H1 18 100, no "B" at the end? Mine were the latest version with "B" Stamp on it.

if that's the case that means its the original "garbage" coils. I wonder if its just some rebrand or some crap.

even the garbage coils would last at least 10K miles. so if you can' t return it, just use it for 5K, bring it back and say its "bad", Im 100% sure they can't tell/test them, get new ones, use it for another 5K miles, repeat. you have 2 years to do that.

at least Im sure this will make your money's worth.

 

OK guys, went to oreilys today and picked up four coils from them. I only paid $32.95, cause they give a military discount. I went ahead and took pictures of both old and new, and these are in fact the same thing, except they have a lifetime warranty on them, which makes them 100000% better! lololol

oh, and on a same note, the difference is f**kin amazing!!! I havent had them long enough to see an mpg difference (though I am sure I will) but the car feels better than when I bought it. I knew I had waited to long to do this when the old coils came out in pieces....

 

Are the "garbage" coils going to cause random misfires? I'm worried about having misfires, especially during higher load.
