i wouldn't wait 7k miles to change your oil or else your engine will be damn thirsty.

and start a different thread for your wheel question, will ya?

I chnage my oil every two months regardless of kms on it, although I have even exceeded 3000kms in two months. Everything I have read about the rotary engine talks about it using up oil and breaking it down fast. Every two months maybe a little overkill, however, I'm sure it can't hurt.

2500 miles for me. i drive pretty hard.

you're supposed to change the oil as soon as it starts to get dirty (turn dark brown/black) the whole 3000 mile interval is just an average estimation. BMWs go at a 15000 mile service interval. IMO, that's just too friggin' long for any car on any oil. simply put, just check the condition of the oil regularly...it's worth it in the end.

My ritual has been to change it every 3k, and add one quart of oil when I reach the 2k mark.

i tell my self i HAVE to change it at about 2900 miles, so it get done every 3k... lol

I also change the filter ever 3k miles, and add oil as needed, i check it every week and it takes about 1/4 qt every 2 weeks.

I did the 1st change after the racing beat brake in (2k miles) with regular castrol GTX dyno-oil, then to a semi-syn at 5k miles, then at 8k I drained it and filled it with castrol super-syn and then at 8500 I changed to royal purple syn. Im at 9500 now, and at 10k I will be changing the engine oil, trany and diff....all to royal purple. Then every 3k after that with royal purple.

I wanted to change the oil a little more often as I made the switch to syn, cause some of the old dyno-oil stays in the system, hence the semi-syn in the middle, that way it will become all syn faster. I figure another 2 oil changes with royal purple and It will all be syn for the most part.

you should technically be able to go a little longer with the royal purple synthetic. after all, one qt. of royal purple costs a heck of a lot more than regular oil.

I know I can, and will extend the intervals a little more, but at the moment, I just want flush the other oil out and get to mostly RP, once I do that and get some UOA's back from blackstone, I will decied when to change. I was thinking of going to a filter change ever 2500 miles (pure one filter) and change the oil ever 5k miles. Since i would be using the RP and adding about 2 qts over the 5k miles, i think it would work out quite well.

I dont mind spending the extra 2 bucks a quart vs the other oil I was putting in. I drive the car hard and want to make sure its protected.

I change it between 2,500 - 3,000 miles with Castol 5W-20 GTX oil. I do get a mazda oil filter but I am going to start using Wix.

I keep mine full all the time. Well, at least I go out and top it off every other week. Other than that I might wait a full 5k before fully changing it and the filter.

the manual on our car says 5000k miles changes for severe duty and 7500 miles for normal duty, I have always followed AT LEAST the severe duty service, cuase even only ladys on their way to church seem to push their cars harder than what is defined as NORMAL service.

'Normal Service' is a joke. change it AT LEAST every 5k miles!

I cant remeber what model it was, i think it was a friends GT2, it had a 8qt dry sump system, the manual called for a oil change ever 6 months OR 30,000 miles, crazy.

Well it might have been 30,000KM but thats still a hell of a lot.

Just to put my vote behind KY...

I change every 2500, and at 10,000 I will be going to RP. And doing a change at 2500 again with RP, to try to ensure most of the oil is synthetic.

After I feel good that it is mostly RP, and that might take one or two changes, I might spread the interval to 5,000 or more miles.

I live in Phoenix, and whether you work your car hard or not the oil better be good.

I try to keep my cars for 9 to 10 years, and I want this one to get that far too.

I change my oil every 2500 miles or less, and I change the filter every other oil change. I see no point in changing the filter at 2500 miles, the oil I drain looks as clean as the oil I'm about to poor in. (for the first 15k miles I changed the filter every oil change, since then, i've switched to every other) I use castrol 5W-20 oil.

I change mine every 3K miles even though the manual says you can go longer I perfer to stay on the safe side. Espically with a high reving motor like in our cars. Oil changes are probally the easiest and cheapest way to maintain your car.
