So i was at the track the other day and a guy approached me and asked of my 8 was a shinka. I told him no thinking shinka was a color. Then he told me that shinka's were 8's with an upgraded suspension and a more powerful motor. Needless to say i'm all confused now?? There is only 2 motors the 4 port auto and 6 port MT and that's it right? Also you ither have the "ss" suspension or you dont right? Please enlighten me.

ok the shinka does have an upgraded suspension but it still has the 6 port renny(not sure if it comes in auto). the 05 shinka was a limited color called black cherry mica and came with basically a grand touring package but instead of the regular seats you would get tan leather and some polished accents here and there. the 06 shinka(what i have) was offered as a package and you could get different colors such as black, copper red, white, and titanium gray. the seats changed a little from full tan leather to tan leather with tan alcantra in the middle. the package also came with sirius radio. i think i got it all

 

ok so i guess he was half right he did mention something about the wheels and interior. Although mine is winning blue with black interior he though mine was a shinka

 

it would say shinka on the b pillars too--easiest way to see if its a shinka or not

 

Shinka has :

Suspension cross member injected with foaming urethane improving performance and ride quality, On paper its suppose to control bodyroll by like 20%. remember, on paper. I cant really tell cuz I never had a chance to ride in a "regular" Rx-8 long enough.
Bigger Rear Suspension from 12 to 14mm.

and the rest are pretty much like the GT.

oh one more thing, The Shinka trim has reinforced certain parts of the frame. they never said anything on the US site, but on Japanese site, they have a graph telling you which part has been reinforced.
