Unhappy My first post and already...

Hey, I am new to this forum but I have to say I am happy to be on it due to the fact that I just purchased a 2004 RX8 yesturday (6/30/08) and it is already in the service department at Wayne Mazda where I dropped it off today .(7/1/08) I love this car but when I came home and surprised my boyfriend with the new car, of course he had to check everything out for me and one thing that he noticed was the battery. It was shot. The corosion (sp) covered the whole top of the battery. I took it back to the dealer today and when they replaced the battery they told me that my altenator is not charging and they will not let me drive the car home and they would give me a rental. Ok so I read on this forum about the battery problem so I understand it now but what else should I be expecting when I go and pick up my car tomorrow? Is there anything that I should be replacing right away that might help me in the future? Thanks for the help!

Same day I bought mine, 4 yrs ago. Don't replace anything. You have a 4 yr warrenty that covers everything except the items that normally wear out (eg. brakes, tires & etc.). Look around here, in your regional forum, for opinions expressed about your local dealers. That is where this site will benefit you at the moment.
Bad batteries and alternators aren't a common occurrence. Some batteries were undersized on some of the earlier model years, causing starting problems. I don't remember reading anything about them going bad. It seems the dealer is trying to correct the problem.

Wayne is a good dealer and has a good service department. Specifically ask to speak to Keven--he's a tech in the service department and is a member of this forum (aka teknics). He will make sure you're well taken care of. If he's not in, mention him anyway and that you're a member of RX8Club.com. Good luck! And welcome. Your boyfriend is pretty lucky!

thanks for the help guys. Yeah Wayne is pretty good, some of the techs are retards but that's a different story. My alternator had to be replaced due to the battery acid messing up the wires. Picked up my baby today and ran good till I went to softball and after the game it wouldn't start right away but I know that's common too so I let it sit and she started again so hopefully I will be ok at least for a little bit. And they covered everything so I didn't pay a dime!

Razz, check out klepto's car.. his just got out of Wayne because of a busted alternator..

And YES, Wayne Mazda is THE Best dealer in the tristate area.. I have 3 other Mazda dealers near me but I drive the 25 miles and pay the toll just to get to this dealer. Haven't been surprised yet.

you should not have that problem after having a new batery installed even if it was in the winter!not saying anything major is going on but be sure they did all the updates and have them prove it thru an oasis which is a history of your personal cars life work done at any dealership. this helps when you have problems related to certain areas of concern and/or mechanical issues.hopes this helps.

at first I was pretty skeptical, cuz I had so many bad experience with NYC's dealership (been to 3, I got my car new from 1 of them), finally I decided to try Wayne Mazda out 2 days ago and ...

WOW, they're really good.

I go in, said I had experienced some power loss issue, they didnt even ask me anything else, did the de-carbon, replaced all plugs, and all 4 cooils. Yep, no questions asked. Thats what Im talking about (service)

I did mention kevin, and I came from rx8club.com, they gave me a funny look at first, then just asked me to sit and wait. After 3 hours something. its done and I drove it away.

I will go back next wednesday 7:30 am, cuz there are something else that I need them to take care of.

They will take care of you. trust me.
