What the...?

I was down in my footwell today cleaning my pedals 'cause we all like shiney pedals, right? I look up and see two loose wires coming form the diagnostic port. It almost appears that the port was spliced into for some reason. (I've had the car two weeks now, no not exactly sure what the previous owner did.) Does anyone have a clue as to what these wires are for or why somebody would have spliced into them?

most likely part of the harness your model isnt using. move the wires around and see if they reach anywhere that looks damaged.. otherwise you're fine.

Check the back of the OBD-II connector and see if those wires were pulled out (for whatever reason).
Here is a pic of mine, you'll notice 6 wires goes to the port:
